Come From Away

I'm really excited to announce that I'm going to be performing on flute, whistles and uilleann pipes with the hit Canadian musical Come From Away! It's an inspiring story with an amazing score, and I'm so honoured I get to be a part of it. The show opens in Toronto on Feb 18th for an open ended run, for tickets visit www.mirvish.com

What a night!

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to the CD release last night, it was incredibly special to play this music to a full room of our closest friends. We'll be releasing some video from the show in the next few weeks but for now we just wanted to say thank-you to everyone who came out and supported us.

CD Release August 24th at the Needle Vinyl Tavern

The CD is mixed! Harry Gregg finished mixing today at Riverdale Recorders and we sent the tracks off to Lacquer Channel to get mastered. The Edmonton release is happening August 24 at the Needle in Edmonton and it's also going to double as my going away party before leaving for Ireland, so mark your calendar. I have no interest in pulling an "Irish goodbye" and hope to say goodbye to as many people as possible before I head off.

Limerick bound!

I've just found out i've been accepted into the Master's of Irish Traditional Music Performance program at the University of Limerick on the Uilleann pipes. It's a huge opportunity to study at one of the premiere folk music institutions in the world with one of my favourite pipers, Blackie O'Connell. The University of Limerick has been a place where some of the top Celtic bands in the world like "The Outside Track" and "The Full Set" have gotten started and their faculty is second to none when it comes to Irish music. As far as I can tell i'll be the first even Canadian to receive a Master's degree in Uilleann piping. I'm able to do this thanks to the generous support of the Canada Council for the Arts. I was extremely fortunate to receive a long term project grant from the Canada Council for the Arts and to win the J.B.C. Watkins Music prize. Without that support none of this would be possible and I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity and support.
